Spring term 2025 starts on Monday 6th January.
A new Beginners Contemporary class will be starting in the New Year, for children aged 5 - 9 years, which Claire had the honour of choreographing for the NATD. We will also be celebrating our 25 year anniversary!
In the meantime, if you are going to see 'Jack and the Beanstalk' at Buxton Opera House, look out for our very own graduate dancer Daisy Edwards.
Daisy is Dance Captain and scheduled to be on stage for every performance. Oh yes she is!
Congratulations to all our beautiful dancers who took part in the NATD Theatrical Scholarships Grand Finals in Birmingham on 6th October. Claire says "I am so proud of all six of you, well done! You are all superstars!"
Ella, Bethany, Neve, Sienna, Chloe and Brianna all made it through the area heats in Derby in June - where Chloe won the Senior Ballet section and Brianna won the Senior Contemporary section - and represented us across all the four styles of Ballet, Tap, Modern and Contemporary. The standard was fantastic throughout the day, as you can see in the photographs.
Saturday 29th June marks the spectacular 20th anniversary of Bakewell International Day of Dance. More than 30 international dance groups will be dancing at 6 different locations around the town throughout the day - with our dancers performing at 3pm in the Riverside Gardens.
Bakewell Day of Dance is always a fabulous day out, with free entry and dance workshops open to all. Come and support us, and perhaps try out a new style of dancing!
We had an incredible day at the North Midland Theatrical Area NATD Scholarship heat on 9 June.

Claire says 'It's an honour to be chair of this fabulous area with so much support for our events. I could not be more proud of ALL the Claire Dobinson dancers who competed, you were all brilliant.'

It has been a fabulous term at the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing as we performed our full school production of GLORIOUS at Buxton Opera House.
Due to a technical problem at Buxton Opera House, we performed on 29th and 30th April, a month later than originally advertised - but it was worth waiting for!
The photograph above is just the opening number. Click on the image above to see more highlights from Glorious on the Shows page, or click on the poster below to revisit the whole evening in photographs.
It is an exciting time at the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing as we prepare for our full school production of GLORIOUS.
Due to a technical problem at Buxton Opera House, the performance will take place a month later than originally advertised; we are now performing on both 29th and 30th April at 7pm. If you have tickets for the March dates, Buxton Opera House will contact you directly to rearrange your booking.
GLORIOUS will be a huge celebration of ballet and other styles of dance. Every pupil in the school is invited to take part - in the rehearsals, the excitement, the heartstopping moment when the curtain rises... and the amazing experience of dancing on stage at Buxton Opera House in front of a live audience.
Visit the Buxton Opera House box office to buy tickets, and join us for a spectacular show!
We are immensely proud of Brianna, Chloe and Poppy for performing as part of Making Space at Buxton Opera House!
You will be able to see this lovely dance as part of our full school production GLORIOUS next month.
Many thanks to the NATD North Midland Theatrical Area for the Junior Dance Day. Our dancers enjoyed a fabulous day, with classes in Ballet, Modern, Musical Theatre and Gymnastic Dance - and lots of fun!
